What is Liability Insurance?

Liability insurance is when you only purchase enough insurance to pay for damage caused to another person’s property (aka property damage) and to pay for their personal injury costs if you are found at fault for an accident. Meaning, you do NOT have full coverage. Thus, you would not have coverage to pay for damage done to your own car or your own personal injuries. This is why you will notice people will typically put liability coverage on older vehicles that are 10 years or older, because the cost to repair the car exceeds the price you paid for it.

If you are unsure on whether or not you should have full coverage or liability only on your vehicle, please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email at jarcher@farmersagent.com or give me a call at (973) 394-0212 and I would be happy to answer any of your questions.

Also, I want to point out that if your liability limits are too small and the damage you cause exceeds your limits, the money to pay for the injuries and/or property damage comes out of your pocket! Again, if you are unsure about what your liability limits should be, please don’t hesitate to reach out or you can fill out the contact form below, and I’ll be sure to reach out to you.
